The Human Experience Specialist

A New Helper for Today

Not every human difficulty is a disorder to diagnose, a problem to solve, or a goal to achieve. People struggle with meaning, relationships, identity, disappointment, uncertainty, difficult choices, aging, creativity, loss, and the ordinary challenges of being alive. Often what they need is neither therapy nor coaching in the conventional sense, but a wise, thoughtful person who can help them understand what they are facing and decide how to meet it.

The Human Experience Specialist is a new kind of helper for these realities. An HES brings curiosity, practical wisdom, psychological acuity, and a broad understanding of human nature to the helping relationship. Rather than reducing a person to symptoms or fitting experience into a predetermined model, the HES accompanies the whole person—thinking together, exploring possibilities, and helping make life a little more understandable and navigable.

Become a Human Experience Specialist

The Human Experience Specialist Certificate Course is for people who want to help others without reducing human difficulties to diagnoses, disorders, or formulas. It is designed for coaches, counselors, educators, artists, clergy, healthcare professionals, consultants, and thoughtful individuals who feel called to a broader, wiser kind of helping.

You’ll learn how to think like a Human Experience Specialist: how to understand another person without rushing to label them, how to accompany complexity and uncertainty, how to work with meaning, identity, personality, relationships, and life choices, and how to bring practical helping tactics to situations that may have no simple solution. At the heart of the training is a deceptively demanding question: What does it take to become genuinely useful to another human being?

A Month of Working with Me

Sometimes you don’t need a program, a diagnosis, or an open-ended helping relationship. You need a concentrated period of thoughtful conversation with someone who can help you look closely at your life, understand what is happening, and decide what comes next.

I offer a one-month Human Experience Specialist engagement consisting of three one-hour conversations, approximately two weeks apart, with email support between sessions. We can focus on a particular challenge or use the month to examine your life more broadly—your choices, relationships, creative work, identity, purposes, circumstances, or direction. I won’t presume to know in advance what your problem is or what your answer should be. We will investigate together, reality-test possibilities, and work toward greater clarity, agency, and movement. The aim is not to “fix” you. It is to help you think and live more wisely.
