2011 HIGHLIGHTS
A highlight of this year is this website! I want to thank Ron Wheatley, who has single-handedly done the webmastering for this beautiful site. I also want to thank Brian Johnson’s team, who helped us with certain sticky pieces of code. I also want to thank the many folks who have come forward to contribute to this site, whether to Ten Tips, Worldwide Perspectives, Artist’s Voice, or one of our other features. Thanks to all!
This year saw the release of my book Mastering Creative Anxiety from New World Library. Thanks to Georgia Hughes and all the folks at New World Library for their ongoing commitment to publishing interesting books <smile>, including my next book with them, Rethinking Depression, which appears early 2012. In all, counting some beautiful journals we did together, I believe that Rethinking Depression will be my tenth book with New World Library (books that have included Coaching the Artist Within and the paperback version of The Van Gogh Blues). A very big thanks!
Probably what will prove my biggest news of 2011 are my efforts to consolidate, integrate and expand upon my ideas about making meaning into a coherent new philosophy I’m calling noimetics, from the Greek word for meaning noima. You can learn more about noimetics by joining me for the class I’m teaching with the Academy for Optimal Living called Noimetics: Bring Meaning to Life! It begins November 2 and is open for enrollment now. I’m also doing a second class with the Academy, one called Your Best Life in the Arts that will significantly help creative and performing artists meet the challenges they regularly face. I’m really looking forward to sharing what I’ve learned from my two decades working with creativity coaching clients. It begins October 3 and it too is open for enrollment.
To catch me live, I’ll be presenting in September at the beautiful Omega Institute in upstate New York, where I’ll be doing a Creativity Coaching Experience workshop; then I’ll be down in Savannah at the Savannah College of Arts and Crafts to deliver a variety of workshops; and after that I head to Palm Beach to present a workshop on creative recovery at the Power, Fame & Recovery Conference. So it’s Rhinebeck, Savannah, and Palm Beach in September!
